Welcome to my week 8 Zwift Tron Bike Update
About This Series
Dads Riding Bikes had our second daughter the last week of August 2023. In order to manage riding with a newborn, I am going to be doing a lot more Zwift riding, as I do not have a lot of availability for long outdoor rides. To have a goal to keep me motivated, I decided to try to unlock the Zwift Tron Bike. My current FTP is 224 watts (Last Tested in July 2023 using the Zwift Ramp Test) and a weight of 175 pounds (79.4 kg), which comes out to 2.8 w/kg
Past Weeks: Start | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 4 | Week 6
Over the past two weeks, I have ridden on Zwift for a total of five times. I have been incorporating strength training back into my routine. Something for the first time in years I did not do much of. This had more to do with some personal health issues I have been having since the fall of 2022, but I have those sorted out now, so I am back to lifting.
For the past two weeks, all but one of my rides was a custom zone 2 workout. I like zone two for two reasons:
- It allows me to easily add lifting to my routine without fatiguing my legs too much.
- With a custom zone 2 workout on Zwift, you can enable erg mode and never have to change the resistance. You can then watch your favorite show or movie without worrying about watching the game. This helps pass the time on the trainer.
Current Progress on Tron Challenge
As of the time I am writing this post, November 03, 2023, I am 17,667 ft (5,385m) into the “Mt. Everest Challenge”, and 11% on my way to unlocking the Tron Bike 164,042 ft (50,000m).
Note: You must keep the “Mt. Everest Challenge” selected at all times, even after completing it, to unlock the Tron Bike.
Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to get updated next week as I continue my progress on unlocking Tron Bike by the Spring of 2024.
